Biography
Robert Lawrence Friedman is the president of Stress Solutions, Inc. and a practicing psychotherapist of 15 years. He is the author of the book, The Healing Power of the Drum -- A Psychotherapist Explores the Healing Power of Rhythm, released September of 2000. This groundbreaking book explores the extraordinary power of rhythm to facilitate health in areas including stress and anger management, Alzheimer's disease, autism, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and others. He is the columnist for the Healing Rhythms column in the popular magazine "Drum!" and the "Stresswise" column in the magazine "Healthwise." He has been interviewed for magazines such as the Washington Times, Cosmopolitan, Self Magazine, and the Toronto Star Ledger on his views on the use of drumming to facilitate health and wellness. He has appeared on national television programs, including the Discovery Health Channel program, "Class of '75", serving as the stress management. He has also appeared on "The Morning Show" (NBC), NBC News, NY One News, Fox News and "The Alive and Wellness Show" along with Deepak Chopra discussing his philosophy and beliefs regarding managing day-to-day stress. He provides his programs to the eleven hospitals of the New Jersey Saint Barnabas Health Care System, for doctors, nurses, staff, patients, and the community. In addition, he has offered his workshops to such corporations as American Express, BBDO International, Chase Manhattan Bank, CMP Media, Cornell Medical Center, Comedy Central, Creamer, Dickson, Basford, HBO, Hyatt Hotels, Inc., Hoffman-LaRoche, Pitney Bowes, Standard & Poors, Viacom and Xerox Corporation, among others. He is the co-chairman of the Drumming and Health Committee for the Percussive Arts Society. He is an active member of the National Speaker's Association.
