Biography:
Steve Alvarado is a self styled teacher to the community who uses drums and rhythm as a catalyst for bringing experiences of cooperation, inclusion, teamwork and unity amongst a wide range of age groups. As a facilitator he verbally and non-verbally, sets in motion an atmosphere of unity, inclusion and draws organizational parallels and models or
paradigms that affect the health of any group. He has a natural sense for bringing a group into a fun, rhythmic and energetic drumcircle. The drumcircle is his primary teaching tool.

His journeying with the drum and the rhythm culture began in his hometown of Dallas, Texas in 1992, with the Dallas rainbow family and experiencing drumcircles in his home. He saw the powerful metaphor during early experiences with drumcircles, which inspired him to seek a way to find a
natural human dynamic that could be vocalized as a solution to dysfunctional organizations.

He has traveled and drummed in many parts of the U.S., Brazil, Spain and Mexico and has trained and performed African and Carribean rhythms with David Lauderdale of Jacksonville University for the past two years. Currently pursuing African and shamanic dance. Attended Arthur Hull, Gordy Ryan, Zoe Ryan and Leon Larsen classes.

Mission Statement:
The primary objective is to help groups, community or organizations to heal through the understanding of the premises found within the rhythm based event. The drumcircle is a many faceted tool for drawing parallels and to experiences of what it means to be harmonious, connected and in rhythm with each other.

Target Populations:
All age groups from 4 to 70. Most group age distribution is mixed and within 20 to 50.

Regular Drum Circles:
Our community meets every Friday evening at the Riverside park in Jacksonville Florida at 8:30 pm. Consistent for two years, the plaza candlelit duing the event with colorful luminaries in a sort of mandalic approach to the gathering. Spirited dance and colorful visitors frequently attend to help to build an exuberant, ecstatic form of street fun. I visit drumcircles in every city I go to now and have for the past 8 or nine years.
