It is time to gather, drum, learn and exchange. This year we are excited to be back on the West Coast and ready to embrace the experience. The conference will be full of great presentations, opportunities and amazing facilitators.

The DCF Conference is for everyone who uses rhythm and/or drumming activities in their work; including settings such as:
  • Education
  • Youth Development
  • Social Services
  • Active Seniors
  • Health & Wellness
  • Elder Care
  • Community Events
  • Workplace Training

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Drum Circlge Facilitator’s (DCF) Conference will feature an array of workshops on a wide range of DCF related topics. There will also be open periods for unscheduled topics, jump time for in-the-circle practice, and time to simply drum together. Conference sessions are designed for participants who have knowledge and experience with basic DCF principles. Beginning DCFs are welcome, however introductory instruction will not be offered.

NEW FOR 2013

  • We are on the West Coast!!!
  • Focus will be on your authenticity, intention and mindfulness in your practice.
  • Every facilitator will have the chance to walk away with tools to improve their practice immediately.
  • Shared housing, lower housing costs
This year we will spend our time at Pajaro Dunes Resort in Watsonville, California, USA. We have arranged an all-inclusive package including meals and housing for the whole weekend. We will be sharing 4 houses, with multiple single and shared rooms (see details under Lodging below).

The event is organized by volunteer members of the DCF community, and is sponsored by the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild (DCFG). For more information about DCFG, go to www.dcfg.net.

TRAVEL

Pajaro Dunes is on Monterey Bay, west of Watsonville, CA, about half way between Santa Cruz and Monterey. The nearest major airport is San Jose Airport (SJC).

We have arranged for shuttle service for members of our group from the San Jose airport to the conference. Cost is $35 each way (approx. 1.5 hour trip). We will schedule pickup times according to participants' flight schedules. You will pay the driver directly.

ARRIVAL: Please arrange your flights to arrive as early as practical on Friday. You will want to arrive by 2:00 pm at the latest to catch the Conference opening. Shuttle service for those arriving later than that MAY be available, depending on how many need it (we need a minimum of 5 people per trip at $35 each). Other options include car rental, or potentially a ride from a Bay Area participant.

RETURN Sunday or Monday: If there is sufficient need, we can arrange a shuttle for Sunday night flights leaving Pajaro Dunes around 5:30, for flights leaving SCJ after 8:30 pm. But we encourage you to stay until Monday to squeeze the last drop of fun, camaraderie, and music from the weekend!

The shuttle van can leave Pajaro Dunes at 6:30 am on MONDAY, February 25, so book your return flight to leave at 9:30 or later.

If your arrival and/or departure times have to be outside of those windows, we suggest you plan on renting a car.
